Restoration: Trade Wind
Alden motor yacht, to launch in 2010

Length Overall: 62'
Length of Waterline: 55'
Beam: 16'
Draft: 5' 9"

Built in: 1938

Work began on TRADE WIND in June, 2008. Although she arrived at Rockport Marine under her own power, after many years of cruising she was in need of a great deal of structural work. She was originally built of teak on steam-bent oak frames, and while many of the frames have been replaced or repaired, most of the planking will be salvaged.

The restored TRADE WIND will be well-appointed, including a generous galley, three heads, a bathtub and a main salon with a fireplace. The two original Detroit 671 engines will be restored, and a Northern Lights generator and a watermaker will be installed. TRADE WIND will also get a new electronics package from Raymarine and a new, enlarged sailing rig.

TRADE WIND is noteworthy in yachting history as she was the first pleasure power yacht to be tank tested.
